End Of MTC

Image
Hey all! I'm writing this email en route to Madrid! I got my visa this week and I'll be in my assigned area within a day. The trip to go get the visa was interesting, all of the Spain missionaries got theirs this week and we had to bus to UVU to meet with a Spanish consul to receive and activate our visas. I got to meet all of the people who are heading to Spain with me for the first time, which was great! We're all pumped to be getting in the field. The last week of MTC has been amazing. So many awesome people and cool opportunities. One if the best things about this week was the mission presidents' seminar. The MTC campus has been full of new mission presidents, members of the Seventy, and Apostles. We've had opportunities to talk with these new presidents and even Apostles as they walk from place to place.  We also were blessed with a devotional on transformational obedience by Elder Bednar. We've learned so much, and are very grateful for the opportunity to ...

Onsite MTC Week 1

Hey everyone! I flew to the Provo MTC on Wednesday! It was a Church-organized flight so I was expecting lots of missionaries. Ended up with just one, but shoutout to Sister Finch for making the trip less boring. Arrived in SLC and went to breakfast with my grandparents. Nice to have a good meal before the MTC cafeteria became my one way to get food. After arriving at the MTC, I met my companions, Elder Keele and Elder Bottoms. They're heading to Phoenix, Arizona, so I have all sorts of local knowledge to share with them. We're a trio, but I'm designated as SOLO-CNC, which basically means that I'm in different classes from them. The rest of the time we're stuck with each other, but I couldn't ask for better companions. Elder Keele is often the only one of us who knows where we are are on this confusing MTC campus, and Elder Bottoms makes sure everyone is always pumped up.   Everyone else in our residence hall is awesome, they're not in my district but they...

Online MTC

Hey all! Everyone reading this helped me to get where I am now, (yes, that means you) and I want to thank you for taking the time to read this! I'm planning to send one of these out every week, so stay tuned.  I was called to the Spain Madrid mission 6 long months ago, and this week I finally started online MTC. It's been strange to be at home while set apart as a missionary, but it's nice to be able to see my family in between Zoom meetings. I'm going to miss them when I leave to train in the Provo MTC tomorrow.  My district is tiny - myself and a near-fluent Korean speaking missionary named Sister Song. When we go to Provo we'll be added into another district. Our classes aren't packed, but we're learning a lot! Our instructors have taught us amazing ideas and challenged us to improve ourselves in constructive ways. I've also been studying with Elder Noah Plant, an old friend who is home from his mission in Montreal, Canada for a few months as a servic...
