*Hysterical Laughter*

^Actual Dominican when I, a gringo, mentioned two (2) Dominican foods. Felicia's the best, and having Elder Tapia as a comp a while ago definitely paid off. Made it to Alcorcón! I've only been here about 2 days so there's a lot of people and places I don't know yet. I arrived Friday's night, so we worked on Saturday and went to church on Sunday and taught a few lessons in between. My comp Elder Harvath was in my first district, and he's awesome. We're going to have a great transfer! The last week in my last area was cool, I had time to say goodbye to everyone, and Elder Johnson and his new comp are going to do a great job.  Here's a quick spiritual thought was shared on one of our last member visits in Avilés: In 2 Nephi 5 Nephi writes about his people, most of whom were his family, establishing their lives in a new land.  Verse 10: And we did observe to keep the judgments, and the statutes, and the commandments of the Lord in all things, according to th...

Madrileño, Chaval!

We got transfer news and I'm heading to Alcorcon, a branch in semi-central southwest Madrid. I haven't served in Madrid yet during my time on the mission so I'm about to live it up in the big city. That was Elder Johnson's last area and the work is non-stop over there. I leave Friday so I've got a few more days up here in the north This was a long week, lots going on!  Spent last P-day on a bus to Vigo for exchanges with the elders over there. Worth the trip, working with Elder Anderson was great. No one wanted to meet with us but we visited some members and knocked some doors. We got thrown out of an apartment building by a crazy Spaniard Karen who basically admitted that she only did it because we weren't Catholic. You walk it off. Acts 5:41 boiiiiiii Back in Avilés we met with a few of our friends. We taught Manuel about the Word of Wisdom and tithing, and set plans to help him start living both. We can see how making friends at church and drawing closer to G...

Three Exchanges And One On The Way

Image
Last P-day we met with the district in Oviedo and went to a zoo, then blitzed the area with 5 companionships and saw a ton of success. Kinda jealous of the Oviedo sisters right now because they get to teach all the cool people we found. We had three exchanges this week, two in our area and one in A Coruña on the other side of the zone. When we stayed here to show our area to the Lugo and Ourense elders, my whole share of the appointments fell through. But that's missionary work, so we moved on and tried to find more people. Exchanges are meant to just be a day in the life and sometimes that means you street contact and knock doors. Elders Bevan and Tomlinson are cool so they were good exchanges.  The A Coruña exchange was cool, it's been a while since I had an exchange out of my area. Elder Ostler and I taught some cool lessons in parks, and helped some of the people that are being taught there to take some steps forward. That's another reason why exchanges are good, someti...

Made Biscuits And Gravy by Accident

^I'd rather not elaborate but let's just say I was trying to make a sausage cream sauce for pasta and it took a turn. This was a great week!  A couple awesome things that happened- We started teaching probably the most Spaniard man I've met on the mission. We were walking down the road when a man in a collared (but not white) shirt and tie called out "Mormones!". The entire situation screamed "Jehovah's Witness" so we were on edge. We told him we had to catch the bus (which was true) but that he could walk and talk with us. He told us that two sisters had given him a book and that he loved it! We found out that the Gijon hermanas had found him weeks ago and gave him the Book of Mormon, and he actually read some of it and thought it was fantastic! So now we're teaching a former Jehovah's Witness. It can be done! President Eastland sang Firework by Katie Perry and jumped into the algae-filled mission home pool live on Zoom meeting earlier becau...
