Made Biscuits And Gravy by Accident

^I'd rather not elaborate but let's just say I was trying to make a sausage cream sauce for pasta and it took a turn.

This was a great week!

A couple awesome things that happened-

We started teaching probably the most Spaniard man I've met on the mission. We were walking down the road when a man in a collared (but not white) shirt and tie called out "Mormones!". The entire situation screamed "Jehovah's Witness" so we were on edge. We told him we had to catch the bus (which was true) but that he could walk and talk with us. He told us that two sisters had given him a book and that he loved it! We found out that the Gijon hermanas had found him weeks ago and gave him the Book of Mormon, and he actually read some of it and thought it was fantastic! So now we're teaching a former Jehovah's Witness. It can be done!

President Eastland sang Firework by Katie Perry and jumped into the algae-filled mission home pool live on Zoom meeting earlier because we hit some of our mission goals, that was a sight to see.

As we try to share the gospel and invite others to come unto Christ, we always try to think about how we can improve how we present our message to people. Something my dad likes to say is that you can't steer a ship that's not moving.  The gospel is a gospel of action, so frankly the things people do in between our lessons and on their own time are much more important than the things we teach them when we visit. With that in mind, we've been pushing the two simples commitments really hard with everyone we find and teach- read the Book of Mormon and come to church. When we're direct about the fact that that's what we want people to do, the minute we meet them, we find more people who are willing to do it.

There was a time in my life when I didn't understand why so much seemed to boil down to read, pray, church. Sometimes it frustrated me that such simple things were talked about over and over, but on the mission as I've invited people to start doing it I've seen the change it can bring to their lives.

To all within the sound of my voice (within the sight of my typed words?)
...please just take these things seriously. When you pray, remember that there is a real person, your Father, listening. When you read the scriptures, remember that these things happened, that those people lived, and that there is something there for YOU to learn. When you attend church, remember that the priesthood of God organizes and establishes everything that is done there, and that the leaders there represent Him. And do these things not out of duty or habit, but because Someone a whole lot smarter than you asked you to and He knows it will help you grow and be happier.
