Online MTC

Hey all!

Everyone reading this helped me to get where I am now, (yes, that means you) and I want to thank you for taking the time to read this! I'm planning to send one of these out every week, so stay tuned.

I was called to the Spain Madrid mission 6 long months ago, and this week I finally started online MTC. It's been strange to be at home while set apart as a missionary, but it's nice to be able to see my family in between Zoom meetings. I'm going to miss them when I leave to train in the Provo MTC tomorrow.

My district is tiny - myself and a near-fluent Korean speaking missionary named Sister Song. When we go to Provo we'll be added into another district. Our classes aren't packed, but we're learning a lot! Our instructors have taught us amazing ideas and challenged us to improve ourselves in constructive ways. I've also been studying with Elder Noah Plant, an old friend who is home from his mission in Montreal, Canada for a few months as a service missionary. We each needed a temporary companion, and he taught me a crazy amount about missionary work in one short week.

I also had an opportunity to teach a lesson with some elders serving here in Arizona! They've been teaching a young boy named Mattias who was just baptized. We talked to him about the  Restoration and how God is always looking for ways to help and guide His children here on earth.

My schedule has been busy, and it has taken some getting used to. I know that the habits I am developing will help me to become an effective missionary. One particularly important part of this is time set aside for daily scripture study. I've already improved the way I study by so much, and am gaining new insights every time I read. For example, a few days ago I read 1 Nephi 17:51, which reads:

"51 And now, if the Lord has such great power, and has wrought so many miracles among the children of men, how is it that he cannot instruct me, that I should..."

The verse finishes by talking about building a boat, but I'd invite you to insert something that you are currently struggling to accomplish. I promise you that God loves you enough to instruct you to do it.

Until next week,
Elder
