Back To Lanzarote
Pretty good week!
Started in Fuerteventura, met with a Facebook referral and had a pretty cool Restoration lesson, then got blocked on WhatsApp. When we called him he told us he was leaving for Barcelona, which was news for us. It's easy to wish people would just be upfront, but that's just how it goes. People are complicated.
We island swapped again and I got to show Elder Nelson the island of Lanzarote and check up on our on-dates.
José, whose wife and son are baptized, is on date and learning a ton. Teaching this guy started with him refusing to accept the Book of Mormon, but in our last lesson I was explaining the history of priesthood authority, taking my time and talking about the original twelve Apostles, and he couldn't wait to jump in and talk about Joseph Smith. His wife Lely is going to the temple at the end of this month and he had a lot of questions. They're definitely getting sealed next year, but we're just focusing on his baptism. One thing at a time.
Isa's also on date, great friends with Efigenia and a bunch of other sisters who take care of her while we're gone. Sadly, her mom died early this week and she couldn't make it to the Dominican Republic in time for the funeral. Luckily Efigenia and Lely (and us but we didn't feel very helpful) were there for her while she watched on Zoom. We're going to keep working with her and supporting her. She's a good friend.
Don't have much time rn but let me wrap up by talking about how cool Come Follow Me is. I'm trying to get the most of it, tying Jesus the Christ and the JST in, and not just because I need to master the New Testament to survive here in Catholic-heavy Spain. It's been awesome to go over the most complete record we have of the life of the Savior, and do it with my focus on helping others come unto Him.
Adios mi niño,
Elder Curtis
