La Pasuca De Resurrección

Feliz Pascua a todos!

Hope everyone had a great Easter. We had a great week!

Everyone remembers how Efigenia found someone on the street 10 minutes after General Conference? We've already had two lessons with her new friend Rosa and even invited her to be baptized! She's pretty new around here, and has a very hyperactive 6-year-old son. He's so funny during lessons. Rosa told us that she'd been praying to God that she'd meet the right people in her life, and now look what happened. It's amazing!

We had a cool service project this week, our bishop asked us to come out to the campo, or field, side of the island and weed some really overgrown gardens. Missionary work is complicated, so pulling weeds for a few hours was actually really relaxing. Bishop also "hired" (I guess we did get lunch, I'd call that getting paid) this cool guy named John who's about our age but less active in the Church. We talked Colombian slang and food while we committed plant genocide and later invited him to English class. Turns out we're doing it again next week so that'll be fun.

At the end of the week we had an exchange with the elders in Los Cristianos on the island of Tenerife. I love visiting Tenerife, and I'd never been to the south before. We went street contacting a lot, studied a ton of Spanish together (we're both trainer-trainee companionships) and helped teach an English class. Since we were on Tenerife, we also had a chance to do district council in person and get pizza.

An hour before we left Tenerife, we got transfer news. To our surprise, I'll be staying here another transfer. Generally missionaries stay about 4 transfers in the islands but here's to number 5! Our district is mostly intact, but Hermana Hapgood got transfered back to the mainland. She'll be missed but the work goes on.

I hope everyone had a great Easter! I spent a lot of time this week going over the accounts in the four gospels of the Savior's final days. As confusing as flipping around in your Bible can get, the four testimonies of the Savior's sacrifice testify of each other and of Him. The varying authorship can be easy to get lost in, but acts as a proof of the historical reality of Jesus Christ. As another testimony you have everything that came from these events. Christ's followers changed the world as they shared the message that He had saved it. We are His followers today, and are happy to proclaim, in this season and always, that He is Risen.

Hasta la próxima,
Elder Curtis
