Kebab Is My Valentine
February 13th and 14th we hopped a quick trip to Madrid for Elder Madsen's residency appointment. On the way home I bought a kebab. That was our 14th, Happy Valentine's Day everybody.
Here's the work this week:
We decided to strengthen our invitations to someone who's not keeping them by reading Mosiah 18, establishing the goal of baptism, and linking church attendance to that goal. I was really happy with it, and our friend committed to come to church. Then he didn't, but it's an approach I'm going to try more. And he does seem sincere so I'm excited to keep working with him this week.
We've been having FHE's with the la familia Chacón since our first week here, especially since their 9-year-old daughter Ashley will get baptized soon. The ward set the baptism for this Saturday, which is kinda rough for us since we wont be there but we're working on preparing her as well as we can. They also have another family who aren't members who live in their apartment and always listen in on the lessons. They haven't come through on anything we've invited them to do but they say they will... when they feel like it. And they always participate in lessons. Anyway this week two more families from the ward packed into their apartment for our Gospel of Christ lesson, and we invited everyone to strengthen their knowledge of the gospel (faith, repentance, baptism, etc.) through family scripture study.
I've been slinging the Book of Mormon 21 day challenge at everyone I can, because too often we lose people before they even crack the book open. We know that if people actually set aside 10 minutes to read and pray about it they'll feel something, and then mild inconveniences like taking an hour to meet with us wont seem so bad. A few people have dipped their toes in and we're going to keep on them until they develop a consistent habit of studying the word of God.
Other stuff
We hit a ton of member addresses out in the pueblos (little towns) throughout the province of Cantabria that correspond to the Santander ward.
Had an evangelical guy handing out flyers flag down the entire quad so he could Bible bash. Wasn't very productive but MAN I'm glad I put the effort into marking up the New Testament.
Christ lives, the Book of Mormon is true, and you're going to have a great week!
