Semana Santa

Happy Easter! Holy Week in Spain is pretty big, so a lot of people were out of town, but it was an awesome time to remember Our Savior and testify of His sacrifice, death, and resurrection. He is Risen!

It's been tough to get past "read, pray, come to church" with really anyone recently but we've got a lot of people we went to help and a great ward full of members to help out. Wish us luck!

A woman we're teaching named Johanna is showing very mixed signs of progress. She's attended church twice and gotten to know the members quite a bit. While she was there she told a few members she was renting out a room and one of our members moved in, which is pretty cool because she's now getting fellowshipped pretty often. She told us a few weeks ago she wasn't sure if she'd keep going to church because her 14yo son doesn't really enjoy himself there, but the member, Jose David, got us a lesson in their house and we met the whole family and invited them to start doing come follow me. Johanna didn't come to church yesterday but says it's only because she wasn't feeling good, so there's some hope there!

We also drove to zone conference in Vitoria (2 hours inland) on Friday, and had awesome trainings on improving our finding and organizing our teaching. I also got to translate President Eastland's trainings on scripture study and the importance of the Restoration. And we finally got hard copies of the new Preach My Gospel, so I'm excited to dive in and make it an even greater part of how I serve the Lord. Zone conference is always a highlight.

Lots of cool opportunities to talk about different Holy Week events with people recently. Its been cool to study and reflect on the Last Supper, Gethsemane, the judgement of Christ, the Crucifixion, the sadness and confusion His followers must have felt on Saturday as he preached to the spirits in prison, and finally the glorious morning of the Resurrection. If we think about the perspective that these events give us on some of life's biggest problems, we can gain an appreciation for why this all matters every week of the year. We don't have to fear death or be destroyed by our mistakes if our faith in Christ is at the center of our lives.

Have a terrible week!
